I was so excited when this mama reached out to book their in-home newborn session with me. A dear friend and client referred Alyssa to me, which is always such an honor! I also worked with this dad in labor and delivery as he is a local anesthesiologist. When people I know are pregnant I […]

I have a whole list of reasons why I am passionate about documenting newborns and their families in their homes here in Las Vegas. As much work as it is, I truly love blogging, especially if it can help someone else! Hopefully, this post will be helpful to anyone trying to decide whether an in-home […]

One of my favorites ways to reflect on 2019 in review is to select favorites from each session, bringing them all together in a collection at the end of the year. It is such a beautiful way to wrap up, and a reminder of just how blessed each year has been. This year… I am […]

The Birth of Silas James I know I have said it before, but by the time I document these beautiful birth stories I have become so invested in the story that is so unique to each birth. After being a labor and delivery nurse here for the past 19 years (I retired this past March), […]

The story of Rex Robert and his beautiful little family wouldn’t be complete without a newborn session to bring it all full circle! I had the pleasure of documenting this family’s maternity session, birth, Fresh 48, and then newborn session. The original plan was to document their maternity and newborn sessions and it just all unfolded so beautifully.

Throughout my life I have been so blessed in having met so many incredible human beings, people that have been willing to open their hearts and their stories to me, people that I believe undoubtedly were placed in my life for a reason. This is one of those families. I talk some about how we connected when I blogged their maternity session a few months ago, but from the time that Mandy moved to Las Vegas and began looking for a newborn photographer there are just so many cool coincidences.

This beautiful couple came to me through a referral from local photographer that I adore. She has been photographing them for years and because she doesn’t specialize in birth or Fresh 48 sessions, sent them my way for this portion of their journey. I have been blessed by this Jamie Rubeis over and over in my photography career and I am so thankful for her in an industry that can often times feel so competitive and lonely.

One of the really wonderful things about photographing newborns and their families here in Las Vegas is that so often my families come back to me throughout the year to document those first year milestones. I get to see my newborns not only grow and change and develop their unique little personalities, but also get to see their families grow and evolve over time as they settle into the little things that make each family unique and special.
During newborn sessions parents are usually in those first few weeks of just getting to know this new little human and are often times in the fog of sleepless nights, figuring out schedules, and questioning just about everything you do. It is such a fleeting time and that is why I am so passionate about documenting it!

I just adore in-home newborn sessions!
After being a posed newborn studio photographer for 6 years, I just really felt the draw away from posed into lifestyle sessions in the homes of the families I document. It really came about as I expanded into the genre of video and the opportunity to tell family’s stories through the films I create. I have always been drawn to the story, and this year my goal was to really document not just moments, but to tell the story. My goal is to tell in images what life is like in that moment in time with your new little one. It is not documentary which is completely undirected, but rather directed into connections with each other and really focusing in on the connections between each other, and those little details you don’t want to forget. I believe your home is where your memories are made, where you spend the most time together, and so to me it feels so natural to document that right where you are!
