Engagement and Couples Session Guide

First of all, I would like to say thank you for choosing me! I know there are so many options out there, and I am always so honored when couples choose me!

I grouped these two types of sessions together, because they are essentially the same in the way I shoot them. They are all about you, about love, and about your connection! I want to show off the special connection that the two of you have, and for you to end up with images that you will love to share and look back on for years to come.

My style is super laid back, and fun. I really don’t spend a whole lot of time posing you, but rather directing you into interacting and loving on each other. We are constantly moving and playing and this helps you both feel more comfortable and relaxed, and just results in such real and intimate images. These sessions really are so much fun!

We will want to use either sunrise or golden hour light, this is the light about an hour after the sun rises, or the hour before the sun goes down. It is warm, and beautiful, and so worth seeking out, so our session time will be planned around this! If we are shooting in a canyon or against a mountain the sun does dip behind the horizon a bit sooner so we want to keep that in mind.

Before Your Session

Before your session, be sure to fill out the questionnaire. It does take a few minutes, but hopefully will stir you to think about you as a couple. I use the questionnaire to help guide you through the session, and really hone in on the parts and personalities of each of you, the favorite parts of your relationship and each other, and really personalize the whole session to you! It also helps us come up with a location that is special to you and captures your personality and style.

Then head over to the What to Wear section of the guide. I am always available for consultations on outfit choices, they really do add such a beautiful element to the story!

Your Session Day

I am a true lover of light and you combine that with love, and we have the perfect session! Because the most beautiful light is really best around the two times of day I mentioned, it is important to be punctual for our session, especially if we have some walking to do! We don’t want to waste any of that beautiful light!
I really do my best to do a light check at our location days before our session so that I can be prepared for it, unless our session involves travel that is further away than a quick day trip.

Let’s be real! Most people are not super comfortable in front of the camera, and it can feel a bit awkward in the beginning. I totally get it, I am the worst at being in front of the camera! We will spend some time getting comfortable and relaxed before we start shooting!

Clean your ring the morning of your session, we will be showing it off!

Items to consider bringing with you for your session:

  • Makeup/hairspray/brush for touch ups
  • Lots of water, staying hydrated is super important!
  • An extra outfit or two
  • comfortable shoes for walking to our location

After Your Session

After your session I will get to work on editing your images. It usually takes me about 2 weeks to edit photography only sessions, and 2-3 weeks for the film portions of photography + film sessions.

Photography only sessions typically average 50+ images, and photography plus film sessions average 40+ images and a 3-5 minute film.

Your gallery will be delivered to you via a link in your email and will be password protected, you are able to download your full-sized, full-resolution images right from your gallery so that you can print, share, and use as you would like. You will also receive your images on USB, also included will be either an 8×8 album of your favorite images, or you may use that credit towards other products such as; Save the Dates, enlargements, etc.

As long as I can remember I have been drawn to stories and the people, like you, that make them worthwhile.

It’s an honor that you let me capture yours.

let's capture the beginning of it all.
